Derek Paraviciniand Friends
We are thrilled to welcome back renowned pianist, Derek Paravicini, alongside Professor of Music, Adam Ockelford to present a concert of music in aid of the Amber Trust. Adam is founder of the Trust, a charity that supports visually impaired children, including those with additional disabilities, who have a talent or love for music, to fulfil their musical potential. Derek Paravicini was born at 25 weeks. He was blinded by an overdose of oxygen therapy. This also left him with a severe learning disability and autism. He began teaching himself piano at two years old and first shot to fame playing jazz with the Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra in London, aged nine. Derek has made numerous concert and television appearances worldwide. He featured in the series Extraordinary People (Channel 5). Derek has been called 'The Human iPod' due to his ability to learn thousands of pieces simply by listening to them once. Derek will play a selection of light classical music, jazz and songs from musical theatre.

Guest performers twelve-year old blind pianist, Chapman Shum, and Amber Trust Ambassador and cellist, James Dew, currently studying at the Royal College of Music will also appear.

Join us for a truly wonderful evening of music making.
