Guitar Recital
Richard Smith

American guitarist Richard Smith started playing at the age of five. Focusing early on with the fingerstyle guitar of Chet Atkins and Jerry Read, he began transcribing classical music, jazz, the gypsy style of Django Reinhardt, bluegrass, ragtime and the blues, to Sousa marches. Now a seasoned performer, with thousands of performances to his credit, Richard has become renowned worldwide for his mastery of his instrument and for his knock-out entertaining shows.

"The most amazing guy I know on the guitar. He can play anything I know, only better." - Chet Atkins,
music legend

Richard will play a programme that goes across the fingerstyle guitar board stylistically.
From Scott Joplin piano rags such as "The Entertainer" and "Easy Winners",
to Jerry Reed instrumentals "East Wind", "Mr. Lucky", "Jerry's Breakdown".
Standards such as "Tenderly", "Lulu's back in town".
Some originals and comedy songs to the blues.
The Beatles "Here there, everywhere" and Beatle medley including "Day tripper and Lady Madonna".
Sousa Marches to Bach's "Jesu" and Sor's "Variations on a Theme".
The programme can vary, but many titles from Richard's new CD "One Man Roadshow" will be included.
