Peter Ciobanu was born in Romania in 1991, with a fierce passion for the piano and a natural talent towards it. He graduated from Victor Brauner Music High School in Romania and after being offered full scholarships at the Royal College of Music, Trinity College and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Peter chose to continue his undergraduate studies in Scotland and is now in his third year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he studies with Aaron Shorr. In his early years he started a collaboration with the "Musica in Amicizia" Music Foundation and toured with concerts in Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, USA and UK.
In 2011, he performed at the Royal Festival Hall with Lang Lang, being selected to play as a soloist in the festival of 51 Steinway pianos. He also performed a concert at the prestigious Mozarteum Conservatoire in Salzburg.
Peter has taken masterclasses and summer schools with Philip Fowke, Murray McLachlan, Philip Martin, Pascal Roge and Idil Biret. In 2011, he won first prize at the Moray Competition at Elgin, and his latest achievement was second prize in the International "Adilia Alieva" Competition in Gaillard, France in 2012.
