The Bold Balladiers were founded in 1995; their aim being to keep alive the best of traditional popular music through performances, recordings and broadcasts. They employ a varied group of about thirty professional musicians and actors and tour the length of the country. They appeared in the Purcell Room in 1996 and have broadcast on Radios 2 and 3
Michael Goldthorpe, the founder, studied at Trinity College, Cambridge. He made his debut with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 1980
