London-based Australian pianist Piers Lane has a flourishing international career which has taken him to more than forty countries. Recent and forthcoming highlights include performances of the Grieg Concerto with the London Philharmonic & Hallé Orchestras, recitals in Adelaide, Brisbane, Munich, Maastricht, Sydney, the Valldemossa Chopin Festival and a nine-concert tour for Chamber Music New Zealand.

Following the success of his New York début in November 2004, when he gave the US première of Czerny's 'Variations on a Theme of Haydn' with the American Symphony Orchestra in Avery Fisher Hall, Piers Lane returns to the Lincoln Centre for a Sunday Morning recital and to play the Bliss Concerto with the American Symphony Orchestra in April 2006.

Soloist at the BBC Promenade Concerts on five occasions Piers Lane's concerto repertoire, which exceeds 70 works, includes many rarities by British & European composers. His extensive discography includes, on the Hyperion label, much admired recordings of Grainger and Bach Transcriptions and the complete Scriabin Preludes.

Also in great demand as a chamber music player, in April 2005 Piers Lane has an eight-concert Australian tour for Musica Viva with soprano Cheryl Barker and baritone Peter Coleman-Wright. In Spring 2006 Piers Lane and British violinist Tasmin Little renew their long-standing partnership with a UK recital tour which includes the Bridgewater Hall Manchester and Symphony Hall Birmingham.

From January to March 2006 Piers Lane returns to the Wigmore Hall with a three-concert series entitled Metamorphoses. Devised and created by Ates Orga, this series "essays the evolution, translation and transfiguration of element, symbol, genre and sound in the piano sphere".
